1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using PrivateOCR ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
PrivateOCR is a free, browser-based optical character recognition (OCR) tool that extracts text from images. The Service runs entirely within your browser using WebAssembly technology. No data is uploaded to or processed by any external server.
3. Use of the Service
You may use PrivateOCR for any lawful purpose. You agree not to:
- Use the Service to process images that you do not have the legal right to access
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the Service beyond its intended use
- Use the Service in any way that could damage, overburden, or impair it
- Use automated systems to access the Service in a manner that sends more requests than a human can reasonably produce
4. Intellectual Property
The PrivateOCR website, design, and original code are owned by the PrivateOCR team. The Tesseract.js library is licensed under the Apache License 2.0. The OCR engine itself (Tesseract) is developed and maintained by Google and is open source.
5. Accuracy Disclaimer
OCR technology is not perfect. PrivateOCR makes no guarantees about the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of the text extraction results. You should always verify extracted text before relying on it for important purposes, especially for:
- Legal or financial documents
- Medical records
- Official or certified translations
- Any context where errors could cause harm
6. No Warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PrivateOCR and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues arising out of your use of the Service.
8. Service Availability
We strive to keep PrivateOCR available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or factors beyond our control.
9. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
10. Governing Law
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles.
